Jame Game #6 Submission

Gnome Out is a turn-based digital board game where 2 or more players take turns rolling a 6 sided die and moving the amount of spaces as indicated by the die. The first player to reach the end of the path, wins.

Along the way, players have the chance to take shortcuts or detours. A shortcut is where, if the player lands on the square indicating the start of the shortcut (green arrow), the player may take the shortcut starting on their next turn. Also, if the player lands on the square marked detour (red arrow), the player must automatically move backwards or down the shortcut.

How to Play

Press 'Spacebar' to roll a random move amount. Your character will move said spaces.
Shortcut: Landing on a Green Arrow allows your player to take the short cut.
Pit Fall: These open pits marked with a Red Arrow set you back.
First character to the Mushroom House wins the race.

This game is awesome. It's simple, yet the art is clean, everything works properly, the animations are smooth, and the music is cute. I think it's hard to create something that works flawlessly during a short jam and you did an incredible job.

The only thing I noticed was that the music stops, and also that I lost.... what happened to beginners luck?? Just kidding. Other than that, great job!!!

Thank you for the kind words. There's a few minor details missing (like looping music, win screen) because in the last wee hours I decided to animate clouds and the foreground trees. Next jam will have looping music, I promise.

no worries! I didn’t even have music, so having anything is great :)

not working for, but game seems 6months old?

Thank you for informing us that the WebGL version isn't working. You should be able to download and play the PC version while we figure out the problem and reupload the WebGL version.

As for the thumbnail art, that was made in May but all in-game art was drawn, code was written during the jam and GUI/music was credited with links. I used that art piece as inspiration for the art direction and then as the thumbnail.

WebGL has been reuploaded and is now playable in your browser.
